Do you own a small business in southern Arizona, or are you an agricultural producer? You may be able to participate in the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant program. REAP provides grants for up to 25 percent of the installation cost of a solar electric system for qualified businesses. Qualified businesses include most agricultural producers, and small businesses in eligible rural areas (essentially those outside of the Tucson metropolitan area).
The grants cover the purchase, installation, and construction of qualifying solar projects and energy efficiency upgrade costs. The grants also can pay for energy efficiency improvements to non-residential buildings and facilities, renewable technologies that reduce energy consumption, and more.
In general, a minimum of 20% of the funds available for these incentives is dedicated to grants of $20,000 or less. In 2015, a total of $63 million in grants and loans was awarded.
We're experienced in this process, so please give us a call if you'd like to discuss how you might be able to participate in the program. We also are able to refer you to an excellent grant-writing consultant with a strong track record of success in obtaining these grants.
